Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving

Previous ideas:
For what I have understood the day of action of graces it is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November and this tradition arose when a group of colonists shared a food with the Indians to celebrate the autumn crop and to be grateful to them that they had taught them technologies of culture and hunt. The Indians took meat of deer and turkeys, whereas the colonists had learned like to cook the cranberries and prepared the different classes of grain on chinas not known for the aborigens.
Facts:
Over 100 years after
Christopher Columbus arrived in the “New World”, a ship called “The Mayflower”
landed along the shores of Massachusetts. Aboard the ship were people coming
froma Englan to star a new life in America.
The “saints” were also called “separatists”
because they were pilgrims on a religious journey. In England, the people had
to worship the way the King told them to. But the saints wanted feedom to
worship however they wanted to. So they separated from the church and sailed to
America, where they could freely practice their religión.
Of course, the Indians did not
like this and fougth with the Pilgrims to protect their porperty. But without
the help of the native people who knew how to live in this new land, the
Englisg settlers might not have survived. One day, an Indian named Samoset came
into Plymouth Colony. The Pilgrims were frightened until they Heard Samoset say
“Welcome” in English, which he had learned earlier from English fishermen.
The next day, samoset came
back with other Wampanoag Indians. They brougth pelts of fur as gifts for the
settlers. They wanted to show the Pilgrims they were Friends and not enemies.
After struggling through the long hard Winter, the Pilgrims were happy to have
the Wampanoag Indians there to teach them how to survive in the New World.
My Thanksgiving learning:
This celebration seems to me to be very interesting and nice, the wise truth very little or I was thinking that to what I had listened they were myths, but of certain form I was not so removed from the reality.
I feel that it is important that they celebrate it since it meant a truce and the bloom of a friendship or at least of harmony between two totally different worlds, we here in Mexico also celebrate a day of action of graces though it is very different from that of The United States both in actions and in the motive, but even like that world mind is very recognized.

Excellent!
